AAS M.A. program graduate and aspiring scholar Dante Studamire recently officially completed a fellowship with the Summer pre-doctoral Institute at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dante had the opportunity to give two presentations at the Illinois Summer Research Symposium. The first was a poster presentation entitled "(Re)imagining Community: Academic Institutions as Sites of Support or Resistance for Black Gay Men Laboring to Forge Community." The other presentation was "Tell Them We are Rising: Examining the Academic Survival Strategies of Black Gay Men in Colleges and Universities."
At the awards ceremony, he received the highest award of Outstanding Fellow, an accolade determined by the votes of his peers and faculty. We are very proud of Dante and his achievements in the College of Education in Education Policy Organization and Leadership at the University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign. Way to represent for AAS!
